Question: Is reciting the alphabet backwards part of the battery of standardized field sobriety tests in Wisconsin?

Answer: No, it is not. The alphabet backwards or forwards is not part of the standardized field sobriety tests. It is, however, something that officers will use. They will have people perform, either forwards or backwards, some part of the alphabet and they will use that performance as part of their evaluation of the overall circumstances. But it is not one of the standardized field sobriety tests that is actually used to detect and certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to certify alcohol impairment.
