Question: What is the first thing a person should do when he or she learns they are being charged with a sex crime?

Answer: If you are accused of a sex crime—or any crime for that matter—you should contact an attorney immediately. Sex crimes can carry significant penalties, including lifetime registration with the sex offender registry. If you are charged with a crime, do not make any statements to law enforcement until you have an attorney fighting for you.
