Question: What is immigration status in the U.S.?

Answer: Immigration status, broadly speaking, is just if you are not a U.S. citizen and you’re in the United States, what is your status? And it can be many things. I can be that you do not have valid status, meaning you are not here on a visa; it can be permanent residency, which is a green card, a status which allows you to be inside the United States working forever, basically, unless it is taken away but it doesn’t expire; it can be a work visa or other types of visas. But basically it just means, if you are not a U.S. citizen, what is your current situation with U.S. immigration law.
