Rock County, WI Jail Release

When a loved one is taken to jail, it can take a toll on both the individual behind bars and his or her friends and family. To help the defendant get out of jail as quickly and smoothly as possible, it is important that you work with an attorney experienced in dealing with Rock County Jail.

Getting a Loved One Released from Rock County Jail

Once a defendant is booked in Rock County Jail, he or she will be set a bail amount. Bail or other fines can be paid 24 hours a day. Rock County Jail accepts cash, cashier’s checks, and credit cards. In Wisconsin, bail laws are different than those in in many other states that allow a privatized bond industry. This means that you will have to pay the jail directly, as opposed to going through a bondsman.

Paying bail serves as collateral and helps to ensure that the defendant will come back for his or her first court appearance.

Court Appearances

After the defendant is booked, he or she will be given a date for an initial court appearance. All initial court appearances are conducted by video link between the Rock County Courthouse and the Rock County Jail. They can be viewed at the Jury Assembly Room of the Courthouse, which is located at 51 South Main St. in Janesville. The initial court appearance times are:

  • • Monday at 3 p.m.
  • • Thursday through Friday at 4 p.m.
