Attorney Darryl Watts Jr. is an experienced trial attorney in all areas of criminal defense. Attorney Watts Jr. attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as an undergrad where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and, a minor in business administration (with an emphasis in real estate). He attended law school at the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Law (formerly John Marshall Law School).
In law school, Attorney Watts Jr. interned at the Vel R. Phillips Youth & Family Justice Center (Children’s Court Center) GAL (guardian ad litem) division where he worked on matters involving neglect, abuse, guardianship, termination of parental rights, adoption, child abuse injunctions, civil harassments involving minors, ordinance violations, and permanency plan review hearings.
After law school, Attorney Watts Jr. was employed as an Assistant State Public Defender in Kenosha, Wisconsin. During his time there, Attorney Watts Jr. represented clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal proceedings, as well as revocation hearings, probation review hearings, restitution hearings, child support (contempt) hearings, and mental health commitments. As Assistant State Public Defender, Attorney Watts Jr. developed and honed his communication and advocating skills. The challenge of representing individuals from marginalized communities fueled his research efforts and awareness. Ultimately, catapulting him to a zealous advocate.
Attorney Watts Jr. is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, National Criminal Defense College, and National College for DUI Defense.
